How Love Fuel makes its items
Materials
Using the right materials is essential. It makes our shirts soft, comfortable and durable. And sustainable of course, which is at the core of how we work, live and create. It’s for this reason that we work with blank shirts created by the awesome Stanley/Stella, which uses textiles eco certified by GOTS, GRS, FairWear, OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, and Peta-Approved Vegan. We also work with hemp, and our branded labels are made from cotton in Germany – something we strongly prefer over the more commonly used polyester, which is essentially a plastic (boo!).
The blank shirts we work with are produced in Bangladesh, with good and safe working and living conditions guarenteed through the multiple textil certifications that apply to our shirts. Production
The blank shirts are then delivered to Amsterdam, the Netherlands for printing. We work with a small and local eco-friendly and sustainable print shop that works exclusively with water-based inks and uses a hand-pulled screen-printing technique to print our designs onto the shirts (Shoutout to Twee Jongens ✌️). The same process is used for our adult and kids shirts. That makes them super durable, soft, and about as sustainable as you’re gonna get — especially compared to other printing techniques such as DTG.
Our printer then ships the shirts to us in Germany (or we just pick them up whenever we’re in the area), where we add branded labels – for example on the sleeve. That’s something we either do ourselves, but we also work with a local sewing business.
Packaging
To put it lightly, we don’t love the amount of plastics used every single day to ship products around the world. Which is why Love Fuel does things differently.
Our shirts are shipped and send by us over here in Germany. We work exclusively with paper packaging, preferably and where possible FSC certified as well as recycled (feel free to check the boxes we use for example!). We don’t use any filler or any per-item wrapping, we simply make sure your items fit nicely in the box.
Honestly, we put quite a bit of effort in the way we ship our items, which we hope you’ll love. Be on the lookout not just for a sustainable package dropping in your mail, but also for a fun experience in receiving and opening them. We promise you won’t be disappointed!
