Which eco certifications apply to Love Fuel's textiles and apparel?
Isn’t it time we mother nature? Absolutely. And having a low impact on the environment is one of the main values of Love Fuel. And we believe that goes hand-in-hand with being transparent about it. That’s why Love Fuel’s items use sustainable textiles that are certified by third parties in terms of impact on the environment, but also social and economic criteria such as healthy working conditions and fair wages. Let’s take a deep dive into the eco certifications that apply to our textiles and apparel.
Global Organic Textile Standard
Here’s something we love about our shirts: GOTS, or the Global Organic Textile Standard, is a widely recognized and respected (eco) certification for textiles made from organic fibers. This standard sets stringent criteria for the entire textile supply chain, ensuring that products carrying the GOTS label are not only made from organic materials but also adhere to strict environmental and social standards throughout their production.
And that’s absolutely wonderful! Why? Firstly, GOTS provides assurance that the textiles they purchase are free from harmful chemicals and pesticides, which can be detrimental to both human health and the environment. Additionally, GOTS promotes fair labor practices, ensuring that the workers involved in the production of these textiles are treated ethically and paid fairly. This transparency and accountability in the supply chain ultimately empower consumers to make informed choices, supporting both their health and their values when it comes to sustainability and ethical production.
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is a globally recognized certification system for textiles. It ensures that textiles like our kids shirts are free from harmful substances and chemicals, promoting consumer safety. This certification guarantees that items like Transceiver and 1ove have been rigorously tested for various harmful substances, enhancing consumer confidence in product safety and reducing the risk of skin irritation or health issues. It also considers environmental and social responsibility, aligning with consumers’ sustainability and ethical production concerns. In essence, Oeko-Tex 100 provides consumers with assurance that the textiles they choose meet stringent safety and environmental standards.
Fair Wear
Fair Wear is a global certification system that focuses on ethical and sustainable production in the garment industry. It benefits consumers by ensuring that the clothing they purchase is made under fair labor conditions, promoting worker rights and fair wages. This certification encourages transparency and accountability in the supply chain, giving consumers confidence that the products they buy are produced in a socially responsible manner. In a nutshell, Fair Wear empowers consumers to make socially conscious choices and support ethical garment production.
PETA-Approved Vegan
PETA-Approved Vegan, a notable certification for animal-friendly products, ensures that textiles meet strict criteria for animal welfare. This certification benefits consumers by assuring that the materials used are free from animal-derived components and that no animal testing is involved, promoting ethical and cruelty-free choices. PETA-Approved Vegan textiles empower consumers to make purchases that align with their values, supporting animal welfare and ethical sourcing.
Global Recycled Standard (GRS)
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is a significant certification for textiles made from recycled materials. GRS sets comprehensive criteria to track and verify the use of recycled content throughout the supply chain, ensuring that products with the GRS label meet rigorous environmental and social standards. We all benefit from GRS by knowing that the textiles we purchase are produced with recycled materials, reducing waste and promoting sustainability. This certification also encourages transparency and ethical practices within the industry, empowering consumers to make eco-conscious choices while supporting responsible sourcing and reducing their environmental footprint. One example is our Wake up World shirt.
