JMF is all about purpose, and its pillars of service reflect this commitment. We strongly feel much of what the JMF stands for, is also what Love Fuel stands for (as you can read on our manifesto and transparency pages). So we love supporting the Jason Mraz Foundation, alongside other non-profits and charities that similarly the JMF supports.. Under the visionary guidance of Jason Mraz, the foundation supports a variety of causes, including:
1. Human Equality:
- Free The Slaves: Liberating slaves worldwide, helping them rebuild their lives, and researching real-world solutions to eradicate slavery.
- True Colors Fund: Inspiring everyone, particularly the straight community, to actively participate in the advancement of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender equality.
2. Arts and Education:
- VH1 Save The Music Foundation: Developing sustainable instrumental music programs that provide children access to music, regardless of their financial situation.
- School of the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community (SPARC): Inspiring young people to reach their full potential through quality training in the performing arts.
- Free the Children: Empowering passionate youth to engage in social issues contributing to the developing world.
3. Environment Preservation:
- Surfrider: Dedicated to protecting our world’s oceans, waves, and beaches.
- NRDC: The Natural Resources Defense Council’s purpose is to safeguard the Earth, its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends.
4. Recovery & Assistance:
- Life Rolls On: Improving the quality of life of young people affected by spinal cord injury, using action sports to inspire infinite possibilities despite paralysis.
- MusiCares®: Providing a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times of need.
Shining for Arts Education and Equality
At its core, the Jason Mraz Foundation seeks to cause peace in the world. Founded in 2011 as a donor-advised fund, JMF has raised over $1 million to support organizations that share its values. In 2017, it transitioned into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, broadening its mission to shine for inclusive arts education and equality.
Making a Difference with Your Support
With your help, the Jason Mraz Foundation donates over $150,000 annually to organizations that provide inclusive arts education and support the advancement of equality. In line with its commitment, JMF has launched initiatives like SHINE, a musical adventure featuring Jason Mraz & Friends, and awards $2,000 grants to 25 U.S. organizations that align with its mission. Together, we can make a significant impact on the causes that matter most.
